The Spirit Led Life

January 1st, 2017

2017 has begun today.

How can this year, 2017, become special?

That’s what we are going to look at.

There should be a clear difference between those who have been born again and those who have not.

There will be a clear difference between a life giving church and a dying church.

No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. However, as it is written:

“What no eye has seen,
what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived”
the things God has prepared for those who love him—
these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.

The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words. The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, for,

“Who has known the mind of the Lord
so as to instruct him?”
But we have the mind of Christ.
1 Corinthians 2:7-16

This scripture tells us.

The Holy Spirit is the difference maker.

He is the presence of Jesus on earth.

He is the very Spirit of Jesus.

He is with us right here, right now.

The Holy Spirit is THE most important person for your daily living as a believer.

He gives us Truth.

He helps us know Truth from falsehood.

He is the one who says, “Turn right.” Or, “Turn left.”

He is our Comforter, our Counselor.

Some of us live daily lives not directed lives.

Well, how do I know the difference?

How do I know if it is God speaking to me or or my own head speaking to me?

By spending time with Him.

When you know a person you can tell his/her voice from 1,000 others.

The Spirit led man or woman can tell the voice of God. Maybe not 100% , But usually.

How can we test our hearing?

First, it will line up with The Word of God.

Second, It will require real faith.

Third, what God says will require you to do something. To do something can mean to wait.

Forth, what He says will give you peace if you follow it.

We want to learn to be a receiver, where The Holy Spirit is the Transmitter.

I am hearing more and more of you telling me that you are now regularly reading the New Testament. Spending time in THE BOOK, God’s Word.

Talking with God opens up His heart to want to want to communicate with you.

We are ”three-part-beings”. Body, Soul, Spirit. Some people have never met themselves yet. We are not whole until all three parts are functioning — Body, Soul, Spirit.

The Spirit of a believer is the candle of the Lord. Your spirit is where He gives light and truth.

Scripture doesn’t say the soul is a candle or the body is a candle, it says, the believer’s spirit is the candle. And only believers have the candle. The candle is the light of Christ.

That is why there is the peace candle on Sunday morning. To remind us of the candle living within.

Now, quite frankly, I wish that every time the Lord speaks to me, it would be like the burning bush when He spoke to Moses the first time.

But the Lord is usually soft spoken. We must learn by patience how He speak to us. And you can ask Him to show you how he speaks to you.

A woman I know had been praying and praying for a solution to a problem. She prayed that she might be shown how to hear God’s voice in this matter. She works in a hospital and she said that as she was walking one of the halls, she saw a sign posted on the wall. The sign gave her the answer to her struggle. Later she told me that she passed that same sign in that same hall later that day. She re-read the sign and it didn’t say what she first read. Yet what she first read applied directly to her problem and solved it. God’s ways are infinite and creative. After all, he created you and me and the whole universe.

Another man I know, was a missionary in Japan. His name is Neal Hicks. He married a woman from Japan. Her father was a devout Christian. Neal was not a Christian when he first married his wife. Every night Neal’s Father-in-law would go into his own bedroom and pray for Neal. One day Neal was walking though his Father-in-law’s house and saw something in the bedroom he wanted to look at more closely. As he stepped into his Father-in-law’s bedroom, he became paralyzed. He couldn’t move a muscle. And he heard deep within his spirit that his life was completely paralyzed, he was really just the walking dead. That he would have real and true life and freedom only in Christ. Neal didn’t want to become a Christian. He had no interest nor belief in Jesus Christ’s blood to save him. He didn’t think he needed saved from anything. Still, deep within his spirit he heard the urging to come to Christ. After being paralyzed for quite a long while, Neal finally did ask Christ to become The Lord of His Life. The paralysis immediately left him, and his life was never the same!

Christ’s light is essential to us. He will change us. He will change how He uses you as a believer and as a witness.

In 2017 pray for this. It will make a different to you and to those around you, to the church and to how The Holy Spirit uses you.

Jesus Is Lord,
Amen!
